What is the program? The Selo Verde Brasil Program is na initiative of the Brazilian federal government that aims to develop a national strategy for certification and conformity assessment of Brazilian products and services that have proven to have a socio-environmentally responsible life cycle. It aims to promote environmental sustainability, guarantee competitiveness and market access for Brazilian products on the international market. The Program aims to reduce the multiplicity of environmental requirements that apply to Brazilian products. In this sense, it aims to unify the various Brazilian environmental labeling initiatives established by governmental and private entities. Furthermore, it aims to harmonize the requirements established by governments and private entities from third countries, compliance with which conditions access to the market for Brazilian products and services abroad. The Brazil Green Seal Program can be understood as a “passport to export”: a unique certification that helps Brazilian exporters to prove compliance with environmental norms, standards and regulations in the main international markets, which contributes to reducing bureaucracy and reducing costs to the exporter.
