Explore some of the farmers and cooperatives we work with and buy from our sustainable coffee beans. Since 2015, our RDR coffees have been made from traceable coffee beans. Lots can be traced back to agricultural communities in Minas Gerais and São Paulo, where we produce and purchase directly from. What is the program?
The Selo Verde Brasil Program is na initiative of the Brazilian federal government that aims to develop a national strategy for certification and conformity assessment of Brazilian products and services that have proven to have a socio-environmentally responsible life cycle. It aims to promote environmental sustainability, guarantee competitiveness and market access for Brazilian products on the international market. The Program aims to reduce the multiplicity of environmental requirements that apply to Brazilian products. In this sense, it aims to unify the various Brazilian environmental labeling initiatives established by governmental and private entities. Furthermore, it aims to harmonize the requirements established by governments and private entities from third countries, compliance with which conditions access to the market for Brazilian products and services abroad. The Brazil Green Seal Program can be understood as a “passport to export”: a unique certification that helps Brazilian exporters to prove compliance with environmental norms, standards and regulations in the main international markets, which contributes to reducing bureaucracy and reducing costs to the exporter.
WHERE DO WE USE ROASTED COFFEE BEANS FOR OUR RDR COFFEES PRODUCTS?
To obtain a perfectly balanced and robust flavor, we use Arabica coffee beans of different varieties in our origins to create roasted coffees with the highest quality standards where you can perceive the flavor of each type of fruit. Brazil is the largest coffee producer in the world, and the government plays a significant role in promoting and regulating the coffee industry. In this sense the Brazilian government has established quality standards and certifications to ensure that coffee produced in the country meets high criteria. This includes initiatives like the “Cup of Excellence” program, which rewards top-quality coffees, which RDR Coffees reached 5th place.

WHAT DOES SELECTED COFFEE BEANS MEAN?
“Carefully selected coffee beans” refers to beans that have been carefully chosen, usually for their flavor, aroma, and quality characteristics. This selection process may include choosing beans from different regions, varieties, or cultivation methods, ensuring a superior, more refined coffee experience. We select coffee beans based on very specific parameters to obtain flavor and quality.
ONLY PERFECT COFFEE BEANS
The moisture content in our coffee beans is between 11.1% and 11.2%. This ensures that the coffees are in perfect condition for storage and transportation.
The ideal moisture content for processing coffee is 11.1 to 11.2%, but the moisture content of green coffee can vary depending on the process:

The ideal moisture content for processing is 11%, as below 10% the beans may break and above 12% the product does not keep well during storage.
Storage
Green coffee should be stored in a dry place with controlled temperature, with humidity between 11 and 13%. If the green coffee has a moisture content higher than 12%, it is na indicator that it was not properly dried or stored. Above 13%, the beans are subject to the acceleration of biochemical and microbiological processes, with losses in quality and deterioration.
Roasting
Moisture content is also crucial when roasting coffee. Too little moisture and the beans will roast too quickly on the outside and the inside will be raw, developing grassy flavors. At 9% moisture content, you can expect a loss of aroma, freshness and clarity. If the moisture content drops below 8%, the roasted beans will have almost no flavor.

All batches are quality checked to ensure they have been classified according to the strictest criteria. By adjusting the roasting point, we optimize the flavor development of our beans.
ONLY COFFEE BEANS FROM MAIN HARVESTS
There are 2 harvesting seasons for the coffee bean: Arabica coffee harvest and Robusta coffee harvest. At RDR Coffees we only work with Arabica coffee, predominantly with sieve beans (size) 17/18 Fine Cup, bringing more flavor. To select the harvested grains, we apply rigor in our classification and tasting tables, being trustworthy in our relationship with connoisseurs.
ONLY IN JUTE BAGS
The jute bags contain 60 kg of coffee beans. Jute is the ideal natural barrier for the grains to “breathe” during transport and promotes additional drying of the grains.
ONLY VERY CLEAN GRAINS
Before shipping, all bags are checked for pebbles, stones, twigs or other non-coffee materials. Before leaving the warehouse for our industry, each bag is carefully inspected again for roasting.
